The fifth surgery developed by National Day Surgeries Pty Ltd, the first in NSW and the grandest was officially opened by the Federal Minister for Health and Ageing, the Honourable Mr Tony Abbott on Friday 10th November 2006.
The day was attended by the partner surgeons of National Day Surgery – Sydney Pty Ltd who were instrumental in establishing this new million facility. Other invited guests included key partners from Health Funds, major medical equipment suppliers and staff whom have worked tirelessly over the past six months in the set up and running of National Day Surgery – Sydney Pty Ltd.
John Masters, Executive Director, welcomed invited guests and gave a brief introduction to National Day Surgeries Pty Ltd. Minister Abbott was then invited to say a few words and to officially open the surgery.
Minister Abbott spoke of the importance that the private sector has in reducing the burden on the public healthcare system. He commended the initiative of National Day Surgeries Pty Ltd and noted that centres such as National Day Surgery – Sydney Pty Ltd are “the way of the future”. Minister Abbott then unveiled the plaque officially opening the facility.

Jim Cunniff, Managing Director of Stryker Australia, spoke briefly, firstly thanking John Masters and National Day Surgeries Pty Ltd for allowing Stryker to enjoy such a good relationship with them and he then spoke of the superior technology offered by Stryker and of the positive impact that it is going to continue to have in Day Surgery.
National Day Surgery – Sydney Pty Ltd was the first facility in Australia to be equipped with the new state of the art technology from Stryker, the ‘i-suites’.
Minister Abbott toured the facility.
